We’ve all visited a site that takes forever to load – and clicked away. Did you know that after 10 seconds, most visitors will give up and go elsewhere? In fact a recent survey indicated that most people expect a site to load in 2 seconds.
A 1 second delay in page response can result in a 7% reduction in conversions
Google has a tool you can use to check load speed called Page Speed Insights. This will help you see what’s causing issues (if any) and correct them. Some of the suggestions are technical so you may need your web expert close by.
The way you place images can help your site load quickly. Be sure to upload the size image you need. When you load a large image and re-size it using html tools or your wordpress tools the image is still full sized on the server. That means when the page with the image is downloaded, the full image has to load, then is resized for viewing.
